UPCOMING SEMINARS & RETREATS: 2009

May 8-10 ~ “Long Island Big Book Study” will be presented by Sonny H. and friends of NY. This is a new Seminar at The Wilson House. Big Book Study weekends are among the most popular and this weekend promises to be filled with learning and fun.

May 22-24 ~ “Back to the Basics of Sponsorship” will be presented by Wally P. from AZ. Wally is an accomplished author and the presenter of “Back to Basics” Seminars. This is a seminar for “anyone or everyone interested in a spiritual way of life”. Both sponsors and sponsees will find the PowerPoint presentation to be thought provoking and enlightening. Learn how Dr. Bob and the pioneers used the “Big Book” to take newcomers through the Twelve Steps with a 50-75% success rate.

June 19-21 ~ The Atlantic Group from NYC is back with the “Early Summer Big Book Study XIII”. If you want a detailed look at the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous… this seminar is for you. Great presenters with a knowledge of the program share their experience, strength and hope. Bring your Big Book and prepare to be enlightened. Use this weekend as a way to really “jump start” your program. We are already filled but are taking names on a waiting list.

July 10-12 ~ “H.P. Retreat Weekend is a first time event at The Wilson House. This weekend is being presented by Jamie Moon of the United Kingdom. The focus of the retreat is to continue working and studying the 12 Steps on a daily basis to improve our understanding of the Higher Power therein, and to practice sharing what we learn with people who are also interested in Continuing, Improving and Practicing the Principles in all of our Affairs.

July 31-Aug 2 ~ “Came to Believe Retreat” will be presented by Liz R., Steve F. and Neal L. Liz is the assistant to Harold Hill author of “How to Live Lie a King’s Kid”. She is a well known and interesting presenter. Steve F. is the leader of the “Came to Believe” retreats which are held in various locations in the country. He received this charge from Clarence Snyder who was one of the first 40 people in A.A. Steve will be bringing everyone through the 12 Steps. Neal L. will be having us take a look at the “vision of the healthy family.” This promises to be such a great weekend!

August 14-16 ~ “Strength for the Journey IV – A Retreat for Women in Recovery” will be presented by Tommie D. from FL and MaryJane R. of RI. If you have attended this weekend in the past, you know just how special it is. Don’t wait too long to sign up. Tommie and MaryJane are excellent presenters. Join your old friends and make new ones at this fabulous weekend!

August 21-23 ~ “A.A. History Weekend” will be presented by “Ray Grumney from OH and Barefoot Bill of NJ. Ray is the archivist at Dr. Bob’s House in Akron, OH. He will be doing an A.A. History Presentation with pictures from early A.A. and will also be facilitating a “Back to the 1940s” 12 Step Workgroup. Barefoot Bill will be doing two presentations; one on “The History of the Big Book” and another called “Interesting and Humorous A.A. History Stories.” This will be a great weekend and also will give attendees the opportunity to see some Akron archives.

September 11-13 ~ “The Journey is the Reward” ~ A retreat for men and women in A.A. or Al-Anon will be presented by Sister Maurice D. from the Bronx, NY. Sister Maurice is a much respected and knowledgeable presenter. You won’t want to miss this weekend! Space at the retreat is limited, so please call early.

September 26 & 27 ~ “A JourneyThrough the Steps” for men and women in A.A. will be presented by Polly P. of WA and Michael E. from GA. These two women who love the Big Book, are known throughout the country for their great Step Weekend Seminars. We are grateful that they were able to arrange to be presenters at The Wilson House this summer. Bring along a sponsee and enjoy a fall weekend in scenic Vermont.

November 5 & 7 ~ “Annual Fall Seminar” – presented by Fred H. from MN. Fred puts on a fantastic weekend seminar each November. Those who have attended know what a special weekend this will be. A title and more information will be in the update later in the summer.

December 5 & 6 ~ “Relationships in Recovery” will be presented by “Dr. Pat Allen, an internationally known Author, Speaker & Psychotherapist who is recognized as a Communication and Relationship Expert. Dr. Pat will be presenting practical knowledge and easy to use tools and communication skills that can immediately improve and positively impact all relationships. Sign up early!
